The CFAI 84, Centre for Industrial Apprenticeship in Vaucluse (84), is one of the
58 training Centres under the Union UIMM
(Union of industrial work within the metallurgical field) The CFAI 84 is
a training centre for industrial apprenticeship in Avignon, Vaucluse (France). The
apprentices attend a training course at our school and they work in industry. They
go to school half of the academic year, the rest of the time is spent at work. As
an apprentice they will get a work experience and after a two year period they will
get a Higher National Certificate and with another three years period they will
get an engineer degree.
History of CFAI 84
The school was founded in 1997 in Avignon at the demand of UIMM Vaucluse and since
then more than 1,900 young people have been trained by the means of apprenticeship.
The school moved to the current facilities in the Technical Centre of Agroparc (Avignon)
in 1998. An easy access to the facilities, an important parking space, a restaurant
and accommodations.
We are skilled in the fields of electrotechnics, mechanics, design, industrial IT,
automation, industrial marketing and selling. We prepare the students for an HNC
in the different fields and also for an engineer degree in the fields of control
of systems on an automated production line, maintenance on automated mechanical
systems, metallic frameworks, CAO – DAO, mechanical production and IT in industry.

CFAI 84 : Key Figures
- More than 1,900 apprentices have today attended the school.
- More than 16,000 hours are dispensed for the training at school and 90% of the students
pass the exam (HNC and engineers). 94% of the apprentices are at work within 6 months
following the exam.
- Nearly 200 companies in a partnership every year, for the last 10 years more than
600 companies have been confident in our work.
- 70 teachers.
- The Centre is located on the site “Technopole d'Agroparc” in Avignon, on an area
of 1.5 ha, 4 buildings with a total of 3,000 square meters, 2,000 of them are workshops.
